			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2843" title="weight-loss-by-reducing-stress" src="http://www.fitness2health.com/wp-content/uploads/weight-loss-by-reducing-stress.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="250" />Weight loss becomes easier as you reduce stress.  This is a fact which some of us are more aware of than others.  We all know that you have to eat fewer calories and change the types and combinations of food which we eat to be able to lose weight.  Similarly we know the benefits of increased exercise upon weight loss.  But we don&#8217;t tend to focus as clearly upon the connection between stress and being overweight.</p>
<p>All of us are aware that feeling under stress and pressure makes us feel pretty uptight.  Our bodies become tense and more rigid.  We can really feel these physical effects of stress.  We also find that our spirits drop and we feel &#8220;low&#8221; when suffering from stress.  Stress and depression often come hand in hand.  What has this got to do with weight gain?  Or, rather, how does this stop us from losing weight more easily?</p>
<p>When we feel stressed our bodies automatically produce a cocktail of hormones which are intended to assist us in dealing with threat.  Centuries ago these hormones helped us to run fast or fight more powerfully against the dangers which were prevalent then.  This adaptive characteristic has become part of our automatic physiology, but the types of threat we encounter have changed.  In the modern day world the threats which we perceive are very different.  Our bodies become poised to flee but there is no point in running away.</p>
<p>This cocktail of hormones is thus activated and then not put to good use.  What happens to it instead?  The American Journal of Epidemiology has published information which links higher levels of unresolved stress with weight gain, as this hormonal reaction can lead to inflammation, metabolic changes and alterations to our body&#8217;s immune response.  Weight loss becomes far more difficult when this is happening to our bodies.</p>
<p>And so we can see that ongoing unresolved stress causes physical changes within our bodies which affect the way in which we metabolize food and this can lead to weight gain.  There are also psychological effects of stress which alter our ability to maintain our weight or to lose weight.</p>
<p>When stress makes you feel uptight, tense, low or depressed you are not always in the right mood to do what&#8217;s good for yourself, and eating habits are frequently the first things which change.  In fact when you feel low you tend to instinctively do that which is bad for you, and this includes eating what is bad for you.  You reach for the wrong types of food (fatty foods, high carbohydrate, and sugary foods), you get into bad eating habits such as constantly snacking or surfing the fridge, you can&#8217;t be bothered to cook proper meals and reach for fast foods instead.</p>
<p>Added to this, who can be bothered to exercise when you&#8217;re feeling low in yourself?  Ironically, exercise would at least use up some of that hormone cocktail and make you feel a whole lot better, and thus place you in a better frame of mind to lose weight.</p>
<p>If you are reading this, you have probably been there, done that.  You know what I mean, and you can feel the extra weight around your belly.  There are many, many reasons why every weight loss program should include stress reduction techniques.  Most approaches to weight loss do not do this.  People who want to lose weight just tend to look at their diet and do not step back to look at the matter of weight gain and weight loss from a holistic viewpoint.</p>
<p>Everything you do and all the habits you have (eating habits and exercise habits included) are based upon you as a person living the life which you live.  Eating isn&#8217;t a stand-alone element.  Eating is intricately interwoven into your thoughts and feelings and your day to day perceptions and reactions to what is happening in the world around you.</p>

But regardless of the reason for exercising, everyone wants the &#8220;best&#8221; exercise program.</p>
<p>This is where the problems start. What is the &#8220;best&#8221; workout? And the fact is, there is not one workout program that is right for every person and every goal. So, instead of trying to find the absolute, ultimate best workout&#8230; use the workout that is best for you and your goals.</p>
<p>In my opinion, the use of bodyweight calisthenics and dumbbells is the best way to exercise for just about any goal. So, regardless of what workout program you decide is right for you, they should include bodyweight and dumbbell exercises. Here&#8217;s why&#8230;</p>
<p>Exercise Is About Movement</p>
<p>Unfortunately, when people think about exercise, they think about muscles. &#8220;This exercise works this muscle&#8221;. This way of thinking originated and was made popular by bodybuilders an is now mainstream. The problem is, the majority of exercisers are not bodybuilders!</p>
<p>The truth is, exercise is about movement. It is about being able to move your body around in an efficient manner. It is also about being able to move around other objects, of a variety of weights. That is why bodyweight calisthenics and dumbbells are great for training the body to move either with or without weighted resistance.</p>
<p>Bodyweight Calisthenics Are Perfect For Training Unweighted Movements</p>
<p>Many people have been trained to think that exercise is weight lifting and cardio. Use weight lifting to improve strength and build muscle. Everything else falls in the vague category of &#8220;cardio&#8221; and improves heart and lung function. This is the wrong way to think about it.</p>
<p>Just think of all the challenges of work, sport and life that require the ability to move your own body around. The real world is full of challenges that don&#8217;t fit into the weight training/cardio format. So, use bodyweight calisthenics to train the body to move the way it was meant to move&#8230; without added resistance.</p>
<p>Dumbbells Are Perfect For Training Weighted Movements</p>
<p>The other type of challenges you&#8217;ll face in sport, work and life requires the movement of a weighted object. And more often than not, this movement will be done with both limbs in unison, one at a time or in an alternating fashion. So, train yourself for these real world challenges by using dumbbells as your weighted resistance.</p>
<p>The furthest away from real world training you can get is using gym machines. Being strapped into these machines train muscles, not movements and make only small improvements to real world abilities. You do want to perform great outside the gym don&#8217;t you?</p>
<p>As you can see, the combination of bodyweight calisthenics and dumbbells is perfect for training the body to move both in weighted and unweighted situations. Not only will this improve performance for real world challenges, but it builds great looking bodies as well. Inflammation has five symptoms redness; heat, swelling, pain, and sometimes a later cessation in the use of the joint.</p>
<p>Wherever inflammation occurs, there is an increased supply of blood to the area which manifests itself as redness and heat. To protect against redness and heat chemicals from the bodies&#8217; white blood cells are released into the bloodstream to shield the affected tissue from foreign particles. These chemicals cause fluid to leak into the tissues, and this manifests itself as the swelling. The swelling process stimulates the nerve endings and results in pain.</p>
<p>Joint inflammation is known as arthritis, the most common type being osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis has been caused by wear and tear on the joints, and is more common in the elderly. Although it can strike any joint it is more common in the knees, hips, and the finger joints. Where osteoarthritis occurs, the bony parts of the joint develop growths called spurs. These spurs put pressure on surrounding tissue, and result in inflammation.</p>
<p>Conventional treatments for arthritis include creams and gels to relieve the aching joints and cortisone injections into the joint, and anti inflammatory drugs for pain relief. A number of people are intolerant to the non steroid anti inflammatory drugs and it does in some cases cause ulcers, and stomach bleeding. A side effect of cortisone treatment is that it suppresses the immune system, and a healthy immune system is crucial to allow the body to fight of infections.</p>
<p>Because traditional treatments can have side effects many arthritis sufferers look to alternative therapies to be used either in conjunction with traditional medicines or to replace traditional medicines for arthritic pain relief. Acupuncture has been used for centuries by the Chinese to control pain and it can be used as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with traditional drugs. A side effect of cortisone treatment is that it suppresses the immune system, and a healthy immune system is crucial to allow the body to fight of infections.</p>
<p>Omega 3 oils found in oily fish will reduce naturally inflammation, as will pumpkin seeds, walnuts and flax seeds. When combined with vitamin E, they are especially helpful in reducing inflammation. Vitamin E is found in vegetable oils, such as olive oil and rape seed oil, nuts, leafy green vegetables. Allowing the body to make the best uses of vitamins for healing is also important. Direct injections of vitamin B12 have been proved effective in reducing inflammation.</p>
<p>Whilst tissues are inflamed the body secretes more ascorbic acid than usual, and therefore many arthritis sufferers find it beneficial to take Vitamin C supplements. In food the citrus fruits are all high in Vitamin C, but as an acidic diet can cause more inflammation, red peppers and cauliflower are good sources. It may be necessary to take vitamin C supplements because Vitamin C, is a water based vitamin and the body cannot store it.</p>
<p>Vitamin A protects the cellular walls, and can contain and reduce the severity and size of swelling. More clinical trials are needed in relation to different types of inflammation, but a cream containing vitamin A, may help most sufferers. Zinc and copper both play a part in the healing process; zinc has an analgesic effect, in addition to being able to reduce swelling.</p>
<p>Chondroitin is currently manufactured from natural shark and beef cartilage or it can be produced synthetically. It is often combined with glucosamine, and glucosamine is necessary to produce glycosaminoglycans, which are a major component of joint cartilages. It is intended to keep the cartilage supple and improve mobility.</p>
<p>However glucosamine is generally extracted from shellfish and anyone who has a shellfish allergy may not find it suitable. It is possible to purchase glucosamine made from corn. The benefits of glucosamine have been proved by several clinical trials run by the manufacturers&#8217;, but independent trials have had unclear and mixed results. As the product generally does not have any side effects, nothing will be lost by tying the product to see if it assists in natural pain relief for arthritis.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2824" title="breast-augmentation-meeting-realistic-expectations-in-breast-enhancement-surgery" src="http://www.fitness2health.com/wp-content/uploads/breast-augmentation-meeting-realistic-expectations-in-breast-enhancement-surgery.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="250" />Most would not be surprised to learn that breast augmentation or breast enhancement is one of the most commonly requested cosmetic surgical procedures in the United States.  The purpose of the operation is quite direct.  It is performed to improve the appearance of the breasts.  In terms of efficacy and safety the procedure fulfills its objectives.  There are several reasons a woman may desire this procedure.  It can be used to enlarge small and underdeveloped breasts or to essentially re-inflated breasts that have shrunk down following weight loss and pregnancy.  A lifting effect is one additional benefit of breast augmentation.  This is particularly beneficial when following pregnancy when there is a decreased volume as well as sagging.</p>
<p>Every woman who considered breast augmentation must make a decision if the operation, with all of its inherent risks and benefits are correct for her.  Each woman will come to a different conclusion and will, of course, follow a different path.   She must have a good knowledge of her goals and expectations.  She must be truthful to herself when considering all of the lifetime implications of the procedure.  A thorough examination with a plastic surgeon will be helpful to determine how the breasts conform to the so called normal standards.  This includes breast shape, the degree of sagging if present, the base diameter of the breast, location of the nipple, size of the areola, symmetry of size and shape as well as the level of the crease under the breast.</p>
<p>There are several key points to consider for each individual.  Will the implant be in proportion to the rest of your body?  Body symmetry and proportion are quite important considerations.  Is the choice of incision appropriate to your desires and can it be well hidden considering the types of clothing and bathing suits you like to wear?  There are many choices when it comes to incisions and a thorough discussion will help you decide the correct location for you.  This will not be the same for all women.  Have you considered the different shapes of the implant styles?  There is now a wide range of implant shapes and sizes available as well as different profiles.  This allows for improved accuracy when it comes to meeting individual desires. You must discuss the desired shape and then the appropriate implant can be selected.  Is the implant to be placed above or below the muscle?  There is new evidence that using the third and fourth generation implants above the muscle has a lower rate of capsular contracture than with the previous generation of implants.  Placing the implant above the muscle is a growing trend among plastic surgeons in the United States.</p>
<p>It is important that each woman consider other factors such as the amount of time needed for recovery, the possible loss of nipple or breast sensitivity and the possible loss of the ability to breast feed.  There are also other issues to consider such as the use of a silicone gel implant versus a saline filled implant.</p>
<p>Breast augmentation is a safe procedure that, under the correct circumstances with give the expect result. It is important that the procedure is performed for the right realistic reasons and that the patient is emotionally stable. Every woman who is considering this operation will benefit from doing their own research.  It is from diligently educating themselves about the options that a good decision can be made.</p>

<p>For instance, the daily dose of caffeine can keep Alzheimer&#8217;s sickness in check, can help reduce cholesterol, protects against dementia, and decreases the chance of developing type 2 diabetes.</p>
<p>A daily dose of caffeine blocks the disruptive effects of high cholesterol that scientists link with Alzheimer&#8217;s illness.</p>
<p>Caffeine equivalent of just a daily cup of Joe could protect the blood-brain barrier ( BBB ) from damage that occurs with a fat heavy diet, according to a study. The BBB protects the central nervous system ( CNS ) from what&#8217;s left of the body&#8217;s circulation, providing the brain with its own controlled micro-environment.</p>
<p>Previous research has demonstrated that raised levels of cholesterol break down the BBB which will then no longer protect the CNS from the damage due to blood borne contamination. BBB leakage occurs in a variety of neurological disorders like Alzheimer&#8217;s sickness.</p>
<p>In one report, researchers of School of North Dakota ( UND ) gave rabbits 3 mg caffeine daily or the equivalent of an average daily cup of joe. The rabbits were fed a cholesterol-enriched diet in this time. After 12 weeks some lab tests indicated the BBB was noticeably more intact in rabbits getting a daily dose of caffeine.</p>

For the first time we&#8217;ve shown that chronic ingestion of caffeine protects the BBB from cholesterol-induced leakage.</p>
<p>Caffeine is a safe and generally available drug and its capacity to stabilise the blood-brain barrier means it could have a critical part to play in therapies against neurological disorders.&#8221;</p>
<p>Danish and Swedish researchers have disclosed that folks who drank three to five cups of coffee daily were 60 5 % not as sure to have developed dementia, compared to people who drank 2 cups or less. For many, the urge to indulge is so strong that it is akin to several other addictive and pleasurable behaviors such as strenuous exercise, sexual climax, and the use of narcotics. Due to a quick release of dopamine and endorphins within the brain, sugar brings on a surge of energy, happiness, and calm, at least temporarily.</p>
<p>Similar to the recent discovery of how unhealthy the wrong type of fats or a low-fat diet can be, new and innovative ways of sweetening up food and drink in America has lead to the understanding of another health care crisis. The over consumption of refined sugar can be linked to nearly every type of major disease in modernized countries.</p>
<p>Following one of the largest, economical money trails back (over the last four decades) we would find the human experience expanding their desire to experiment with several different unnatural sweetening methods. Although most of them have been marketed as &#8216;safe&#8217; and &#8216;natural&#8217;, objective, scientific nutritional diet studies have uncovered evidence to the contrary.</p>
<p>So, what sweetening agents, aside from just plain cane and beet sugar, are being used in the marketing of food and beverages, and for use in the home, in the United States these days?</p>
<p>HFCS</p>
<p>High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has gradually, and unsuspectingly, been released into the food supply. Since its development, during the 1960&#8242;s, ten to twenty percent of calories in the American diet now comes from this manufactured sweetener in the form of beverages, baked goods, candy, and condiments.</p>
<p>It is massively used because the flavor is much sweeter than regular sugar (sucrose), and cheaper to produce. Corn does not have a high fructose content, in its natural state. But it is rather easy, through a slight manipulation process, to spike corn&#8217;s fructose content, up to 55 percent. Compounding the over consumption problem of this sweetener even further, is the latest addition of genetically modified corn in the food supply over the last ten years. Neither of which, the long-term effects on the human body are currently known.</p>
<p>What is known about HFCS at this time, is that small to moderate amounts do not appear to be all that harmful. In larger amounts, however, it seems to be a different story. The brain does not recognize the body&#8217;s ability to satiate the appetite in the absence of low fiber intake.</p>
<p>The bottom line is this, the body does not metabolize this substance very well. The liver has to do most of the work without the aid of the hormones insulin and leptin, which regulates blood sugar and appetite, respectively. HFCS just skips right past the process of insulin and leptin production. The tendency to over eat is easier to do when the signal of satisfaction in feeling full is not received.</p>
<p>Considering that an inactive body only needs about 2 teaspoons of sugar (glucose) in the bloodstream every few hours or so, you begin to see how overdoing it can play havoc with your weight. Sugar, along with the combination of other nutrients available in complex (plant food) carbohydrates, in the form of whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables is a source of glucose that your body can handle quite easily. Whole fruits have a naturally high fructose content, and can help you curb the need to satisfy a sweet tooth.</p>
<p>Sucralose</p>
<p>One of the newest artificial sweeteners on the market, recently, is sucralose, (Splenda). It has been associated with a few minor health complaints such as headaches, gas or bloating, and stomach cramps. The brain is wired to associate sweet flavored food with a high caloric content in a dopamine release reward system. Fooling the brain with a taste that does not deliver the calories may lead to rebound eating, thus canceling out any benefits.</p>
<p>Aspartame</p>
<p>&#8216;NutraSweet&#8217;,(Equal) an older manufactured sugar substitute, appears to deplete the body&#8217;s supplies of chromium. This trace mineral is a necessary element for metabolizing sugar. This sweetener has also been linked to a whole slew of unwanted side effects ranging from mild to severe in sensitive people from gastrointestinal and psychiatric, to neurologic and endocrine problems.</p>
<p>Natural Alternatives</p>
<p>For baking, and other flavoring needs in the home, there are several other options that do not raise glycemic index levels as much as cane or beet sugar. Some of these include dehydrated cane juice crystals (sucanat) and date sugar. Liquid choices include agave syrup, amasake (rice syrup), blackstrap molasses, maple syrup, and honey.</p>
<p>Each of these alternatives offer some nutritional content. If you are diabetic, use caution in not over consuming.</p>
<p>Xylitol has been used as a sweetener for around forty years. It is a white, odorless crystalline powder that is naturally occurring in many fruits and vegetables, corn fiber, and birch trees. It is 40 percent lower in calories than sugar. It is mostly found in oral health products like gum, breath mints, hard candy, and pharmaceuticals.</p>
<p>A word of caution, do not use oral health care products containing xylitol for pets. Xylitol is a known toxic substance for dogs.</p>
<p>The most popular sweetener in the natural alternative category, no hands down, is stevia. Stevia is a herbal sweetener derived from the leaves of a bush like plant native to South America. It is an all-natural herbal product with centuries of safe use by the natives of Paraguay.</p>
<p>It has been thoroughly tested around the world in dozens of tests and found to be non-toxic and safe, even in heavy amounts. It is a wise choice for diabetics and for individuals who are fighting candida yeast problems.</p>
<p>This sweetening product has a large market share value in Japan and in several Asian countries. Stevia has almost no calories, does not raise blood glucose levels the way other sweeteners do, and actually provides the user with a small amount of fiber.</p>
<p>Stevia is definitely a much safer option to the toxic time-bombs of artificial sweeteners. As a little goes a long way, it is three hundred times sweeter than sugar, stevia can be both economical and practical.</p>

We notice too how foods or drinks which are identified to us as bad for one aspect of our health can at the same time be good for our health in a different way, thereby allowing us to justify (to a degree) their consumption.</p>
<p>We notice a constant stream of articles which point out the fact that this or that vitamin or supplement will help increase our metabolic rate or increase the speed at which we burn calories and hence lose weight more easily.  The emphasis always seems to be placed upon the fact that you will lose weight more easily with these weight loss or diet aid products.</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be handy if you could lose weight more easily simply by drinking several cups of tea or coffee every day?  In a sense this is actually probably quite possible; we are constantly reminded that by drinking a large glass of water before a meal you will feel fuller more quickly and therefore find it easy to eat less.  Tea and coffee also contains a fair amount of water and so one could claim that these popular beverages also offer a similar &#8220;lose weight more easily&#8221; benefit.</p>
<p>I did in fact notice an article the other day which suggested that your cups of tea and coffee should count as part of the ideal quota of eight glasses of water a day which our bodies need to operate healthily.  I have to admit I always questioned why one should drink vast amounts of pure water as well as whatever other (soft) drinks you consumed on a daily basis; my inquiring mind suspected that this was perhaps a useful &#8220;fact&#8217; which bottled water companies liked to encourage.</p>
<p>There is also research data (referenced in the Journal of the American Heart Association) which indicates that to drink a few cups of tea or coffee a day lowers ones risk of heart disease by a quite noticeable percentage.  This beneficial effect is effect is quite capable of being counteracted by a lifestyle which involves smoking cigarettes, eating unhealthily or living the life of a couch potato and shunning exercise.</p>
<p>The same potential contra-effect stands for each and every diet aid.  Each weight loss aid only works within certain boundaries.  An appetite suppressant, for example, will only work if you listen to your body and do not over-ride the signals which tell you that you are satisfied.  Similarly you may well lose weight easily without exercising, but your fitness levels will remain at the lower end of the scale.</p>
<p>If your aim is not only to lose weight but also to be fit and healthy then a lifestyle choice which involves both exercise and healthy eating is the only way forwards.  There are I am sure hundreds, if not thousands, of dietary aids and weight loss pills or supplements which you could take and which may very well help you to lose weight, but they will only work when used as one part of a healthy shake-up of your life style.</p>
<p>No matter what approach you choose for your personal weight loss plan, you have to first have made a firm decision to do whatever it takes to lose weight and be healthy.  You then have to focus your mind clearly upon your weight loss goals and remain motivated to make the necessary changes in your lifestyle to make weight loss easier for you.  And it doesn&#8217;t stop there.</p>
<p>To lose weight and keep it off over the long term you have to change your mindset so that you see weight loss as a long term and permanent fixture; it is not a quick-fix or fad diet which you are to be subjected to for a couple of weeks.</p>
<p>The only constant things which are lynch-pins in every successful weight loss solution are to eat healthily, exercise your body and to have a good mental attitude.  The most important of all is undeniably your mental attitude.  Your focus and attitude lie at the heart of any successful weight loss plan.</p>
