			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2843" title="weight-loss-by-reducing-stress" src="http://www.fitness2health.com/wp-content/uploads/weight-loss-by-reducing-stress.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="250" />Weight loss becomes easier as you reduce stress.  This is a fact which some of us are more aware of than others.  We all know that you have to eat fewer calories and change the types and combinations of food which we eat to be able to lose weight.  Similarly we know the benefits of increased exercise upon weight loss.  But we don&#8217;t tend to focus as clearly upon the connection between stress and being overweight.</p>
<p>All of us are aware that feeling under stress and pressure makes us feel pretty uptight.  Our bodies become tense and more rigid.  We can really feel these physical effects of stress.  We also find that our spirits drop and we feel &#8220;low&#8221; when suffering from stress.  Stress and depression often come hand in hand.  What has this got to do with weight gain?  Or, rather, how does this stop us from losing weight more easily?</p>
<p>When we feel stressed our bodies automatically produce a cocktail of hormones which are intended to assist us in dealing with threat.  Centuries ago these hormones helped us to run fast or fight more powerfully against the dangers which were prevalent then.  This adaptive characteristic has become part of our automatic physiology, but the types of threat we encounter have changed.  In the modern day world the threats which we perceive are very different.  Our bodies become poised to flee but there is no point in running away.</p>
<p>This cocktail of hormones is thus activated and then not put to good use.  What happens to it instead?  The American Journal of Epidemiology has published information which links higher levels of unresolved stress with weight gain, as this hormonal reaction can lead to inflammation, metabolic changes and alterations to our body&#8217;s immune response.  Weight loss becomes far more difficult when this is happening to our bodies.</p>
<p>And so we can see that ongoing unresolved stress causes physical changes within our bodies which affect the way in which we metabolize food and this can lead to weight gain.  There are also psychological effects of stress which alter our ability to maintain our weight or to lose weight.</p>
<p>When stress makes you feel uptight, tense, low or depressed you are not always in the right mood to do what&#8217;s good for yourself, and eating habits are frequently the first things which change.  In fact when you feel low you tend to instinctively do that which is bad for you, and this includes eating what is bad for you.  You reach for the wrong types of food (fatty foods, high carbohydrate, and sugary foods), you get into bad eating habits such as constantly snacking or surfing the fridge, you can&#8217;t be bothered to cook proper meals and reach for fast foods instead.</p>
<p>Added to this, who can be bothered to exercise when you&#8217;re feeling low in yourself?  Ironically, exercise would at least use up some of that hormone cocktail and make you feel a whole lot better, and thus place you in a better frame of mind to lose weight.</p>
<p>If you are reading this, you have probably been there, done that.  You know what I mean, and you can feel the extra weight around your belly.  There are many, many reasons why every weight loss program should include stress reduction techniques.  Most approaches to weight loss do not do this.  People who want to lose weight just tend to look at their diet and do not step back to look at the matter of weight gain and weight loss from a holistic viewpoint.</p>
<p>Everything you do and all the habits you have (eating habits and exercise habits included) are based upon you as a person living the life which you live.  Eating isn&#8217;t a stand-alone element.  Eating is intricately interwoven into your thoughts and feelings and your day to day perceptions and reactions to what is happening in the world around you.</p>

We notice too how foods or drinks which are identified to us as bad for one aspect of our health can at the same time be good for our health in a different way, thereby allowing us to justify (to a degree) their consumption.</p>
<p>We notice a constant stream of articles which point out the fact that this or that vitamin or supplement will help increase our metabolic rate or increase the speed at which we burn calories and hence lose weight more easily.  The emphasis always seems to be placed upon the fact that you will lose weight more easily with these weight loss or diet aid products.</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be handy if you could lose weight more easily simply by drinking several cups of tea or coffee every day?  In a sense this is actually probably quite possible; we are constantly reminded that by drinking a large glass of water before a meal you will feel fuller more quickly and therefore find it easy to eat less.  Tea and coffee also contains a fair amount of water and so one could claim that these popular beverages also offer a similar &#8220;lose weight more easily&#8221; benefit.</p>
<p>I did in fact notice an article the other day which suggested that your cups of tea and coffee should count as part of the ideal quota of eight glasses of water a day which our bodies need to operate healthily.  I have to admit I always questioned why one should drink vast amounts of pure water as well as whatever other (soft) drinks you consumed on a daily basis; my inquiring mind suspected that this was perhaps a useful &#8220;fact&#8217; which bottled water companies liked to encourage.</p>
<p>There is also research data (referenced in the Journal of the American Heart Association) which indicates that to drink a few cups of tea or coffee a day lowers ones risk of heart disease by a quite noticeable percentage.  This beneficial effect is effect is quite capable of being counteracted by a lifestyle which involves smoking cigarettes, eating unhealthily or living the life of a couch potato and shunning exercise.</p>
<p>The same potential contra-effect stands for each and every diet aid.  Each weight loss aid only works within certain boundaries.  An appetite suppressant, for example, will only work if you listen to your body and do not over-ride the signals which tell you that you are satisfied.  Similarly you may well lose weight easily without exercising, but your fitness levels will remain at the lower end of the scale.</p>
<p>If your aim is not only to lose weight but also to be fit and healthy then a lifestyle choice which involves both exercise and healthy eating is the only way forwards.  There are I am sure hundreds, if not thousands, of dietary aids and weight loss pills or supplements which you could take and which may very well help you to lose weight, but they will only work when used as one part of a healthy shake-up of your life style.</p>
<p>No matter what approach you choose for your personal weight loss plan, you have to first have made a firm decision to do whatever it takes to lose weight and be healthy.  You then have to focus your mind clearly upon your weight loss goals and remain motivated to make the necessary changes in your lifestyle to make weight loss easier for you.  And it doesn&#8217;t stop there.</p>
<p>To lose weight and keep it off over the long term you have to change your mindset so that you see weight loss as a long term and permanent fixture; it is not a quick-fix or fad diet which you are to be subjected to for a couple of weeks.</p>
<p>The only constant things which are lynch-pins in every successful weight loss solution are to eat healthily, exercise your body and to have a good mental attitude.  The most important of all is undeniably your mental attitude.  Your focus and attitude lie at the heart of any successful weight loss plan.</p>

It&#8217;s not as if the guilty feelings have prevented you from eating; guilt is only experienced whilst actually eating food or after eating.  Guilt achieves nothing other than making you feel bad about eating.</p>
<p>And surely eating something gorgeously delicious should make you feel good, not bad?  After all, you eat for nourishment and when you are feeling well nourished you feel good. Enjoying good food is part of enjoying life.  It should satisfy your taste buds as well as your need for nutrition.</p>
<p>I have heard many people comment upon how unfair it is that so many thin people seem to be able to eat food which is laden in fatty calories and yet still stay thin, whilst they themselves manage to put on weight simply by looking at a plate of lettuce leaves!   But is this really the case?  Can you really eat any diet which you choose without thinking about calories and still stay slim?</p>
<p>Yes, individuals are subject to their own metabolic differences, which are also related to the amount and types of exercise which they partake in.  But metabolism is not the only reason why some people put on weight whilst others do not.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s examine for a moment the habits and thought processes of those people who seem to eat whatever they want without gaining weight.   You will usually find that they eat relatively slowly, and savor the taste of the food which they are eating.  You will also notice that they do not tend to overeat; once satisfied they stop eating.  They do not suffer pangs of guilt and neither do they think that they should not eat particular types or amounts of food.  Their minds are not tied up or restricted by a diet mentality.</p>
<p>If you consider the people who complain of putting on weight at the mere sight of food, you will usually notice that they are preoccupied with thoughts about food and ideas about what they should or should not have.  They constantly feel guilty and so cannot fully enjoy the food which they should be enjoying.  And herein lies one of the key issues; if you do not allow yourself to enjoy the food which you are eating, you will not feel satisfied, because satisfaction is not merely based on nutritional value alone.</p>
<p>To feel fully satisfied with your meals you need to savor the taste, smell and texture of the food which you are eating.  You need to enjoy it and there is also evidence to support the requirement of a range of tastes within your meals.  Thus if you limit yourself to a boring diet you will not feel satisfied, and if you do not allow yourself to enjoy your food, you will not feel satisfied.</p>
<p>And we all know what happens when you do not feel satisfied; you reach for more and more and more.  Ironically, even whilst you reach for more food, because you are feeling guilty and not fully enjoying it, you do not fully appreciate what you are eating and it is easy to kid yourself into thinking that you are not actually eating very much.  Your vision becomes distorted.  And needless to say, until you fully recognize what is happening you are not in a position to do anything about it.</p>
<p>To lose weight successfully you have to get back to enjoying your food without feeling guilty, and to do this requires you to learn to think in a different way.  This is why hypnosis presents us with such a successful approach to effective weight loss.</p>

<p>In actual fact both of these viewpoints can be seen to be correct as in themselves they dictate your own personal outcome.  It has to be said that one is inherently negative whilst the other has the potential to pave your way to success.</p>
<p>If you are of the mind-set that you have to see it to believe it, you will wait until you see &#8220;it&#8221; happen before you expend any effort; it&#8217;s a kind of &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to waste my time&#8221; or &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to get my hopes up and then be let down&#8221; attitude.  OK, so you don&#8217;t get hurt, but you don&#8217;t progress either; this attitude erects walls around your life and keeps you inside them.  Your life becomes a progression of same old thoughts, same old habits and same old outcomes.</p>
<p>If, on the other hand, you allow yourself to dream and to truly imagine that which you want, you effectively create an emotional attachment to that goal, an expectation that it will materialize. When you see something and at the same time there is an associated emotional attachment to it you will be propelled in that direction as if by a very powerful force.  It&#8217;s as if you are surfing on the crest of a wave. Your thoughts and emotions, when aligned in this way, act like a current to sweep you forwards.</p>
<p>In terms of weight loss, it is important to acknowledge the effect of both your emotions and your mental imagery.  Many (if not most) nutritionists estimate that about 75% of over-eating is caused by emotions. Some would say that close to 100% of over-eating can be attributed to emotional connections.  Whatever specific percentage you believe it to be, I think everyone will agree that it&#8217;s pretty high, and thus will appreciate that if you could just &#8220;detach&#8221; those emotions from the act of eating, you should find that you&#8217;ll lose weight as easily as shelling peas.</p>
<p>Your emotions and your mental imagery tend to be tied up together; they interlink and each impacts upon the other.  It&#8217;s not a one way street, but a two way dynamic flow of imagery and emotion.  Once you realize the truth in this statement you can no doubt appreciate how your eyes can be used to help you to lose weight easily.  A task which no doubt previously seemed so hard, if not impossible, suddenly becomes a whole lot easier.</p>
<p>It is important to create images in your minds&#8217; eye of yourself as you want to be.  As you do this you feel an almost immediate lift in your emotions.  You can feel your eyes and your emotions becoming swept along together.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t believe me, run a quick test.  Close your eyes and picture yourself looking at your frumpiest and fattest; picture your clothes not fitting very well and even feeling uncomfortable.  Ask yourself &#8220;how do you feel?&#8221;  And then, still with your eyes closed, move that picture off to one side of your mind and replace it with a bright clear image of a super, healthy, slim, sensual, and sexy new you.  Again, ask yourself &#8220;how do you feel?&#8221;</p>
<p>I would wager a bet that even without closing your eyes, just whilst you read those few words in the last paragraph, you were aware of your emotions being triggered and changed.  And so now you can appreciate more fully how very important it is for you to allow yourself to lose weight easily by imagining being slim, healthy and happy.  As you see it you will create an emotional attachment which allows you to believe it. You can in fact lose weight by &#8220;seeing yourself slim&#8221;.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2696" title="weight-loss-is-easy-when-you-approach-it-from-the-source-and-not-the-symptom" src="http://www.fitness2health.com/wp-content/uploads/weight-loss-is-easy-when-you-approach-it-from-the-source-and-not-the-symptom.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="250" />I cannot help thinking that we are focusing upon the wrong thing when we spend so much time paying attention to being overweight, how to lose weight, which diet is best and so on.  Surely our focus should be instead upon how we can as a nation become healthier?  As you think in a healthy and balanced way, your habits will reflect this and so too will your body size and shape.  Should the dog not wag the tail instead of the tail wagging the dog?</p>
<p>We all too easily get tied up in focusing upon symptoms instead of causes.  We pay attention to what is on the surface instead of examining what lies beneath.  As different trends come and go we invest in the paraphernalia which accompanies it; hair straighteners one month, curlers the next, particular makes of jeans or trainers, makeup or moisturizer, exercise videos or personal trainers.  The list goes on and on, seemingly forever.</p>
<p>Nearly all of these things end up as &#8220;fads&#8221;.  They provide a short term change of image or boost to ones self-esteem as you feel that you are fitting in with the crowd.  But this lifting of one&#8217;s spirits is all too quickly forgotten.  Different diets and dieting aids last for a similarly short period of time before being &#8220;mentally binned&#8221; in the &#8220;diets which don&#8217;t work&#8221; dumpster.</p>
<p>If you look for a &#8220;quick fix&#8221; that is what you will get &#8211; a quick fix and nothing more.  It will not effect a permanent change, merely a transitory one.  Until you dig deeper and uncover the foundations upon which your weighty symptoms are built you will not be able to change the size and shape of the structure which you are.</p>
<p>In this sense the weight loss issue is like a leaky dam.  As cracks begin to appear you patch them up; then more and more cracks begin to surface and you keep doing what you can to smooth them over and fix them up.  The ultimate result is inevitable as all of that &#8220;pent-up&#8221; water bursts its way through the dam.  All of that time spent focusing upon the dam was spent in vein; it would have been far more useful to spend time looking at the source of the issue and finding a more workable and long term solution.</p>
<p>How many diets have you tried? How much time have you spent feeling dissatisfied with your weight?  How many hours have you spent in shops or changing rooms trying to find something which you feel happy to wear? If you look back now over that period of time and you could change anything what would it be?  What could you have done which would have provided a real solution with lasting benefits?</p>
<p>As a nation I think it is time to stop looking for quick fixes.  We need to move together to look for long term workable solutions for many different problems, not just those of health and weight loss.  Our self-esteem has become too heavily attached to how we look instead of how we feel and who we are.  We need to get back to appreciating what we have instead of craving for things which we haven&#8217;t got.</p>
<p>In terms of weight loss the most important thing is to get your mind around the issue and identify the real problems which have caused you to put on weight in the first place.  It is important to examine thoughts and habits, self-belief and self-confidence, dreams and expectations and not just the superficial details of calorie counting, fat content, supplements or gastric banding surgery.</p>
<p>As we revert to thinking in a healthy and balanced way our habits will align accordingly and our bodies will mirror this real and comfortable sense of self.</p>

<p>Weight loss happens in a similar way whether you risk the dangers of gastric band surgery or go it alone, losing weight naturally through adjusting to a healthier lifestyle, diet and exercise.  After you have had gastric band surgery you still have to adjust the foods you eat and drastically reduce the portion sizes.  So why not just do that, and lose weight naturally, instead of subjecting your body to the trauma of surgery?</p>
<p>A better question to ask yourself is what has stopped you from losing weight successfully? Or perhaps what changes when you undergo gastric band surgery?  The answer of course boils down to the fact that once you have had this type of weight loss surgery you quite simply cannot eat more than small quantities of food; it becomes physically impossible.</p>
<p>And so even if you want to eat more, you cannot. In short, you do not have to have the will power to stick to a diet or pursue an exercise regime or to change your lifestyle when you have had this type of surgery.  But the fact remains that your lifestyle does indeed change.  You do alter the way in which you eat and the way in which you socialize.  All this still has to happen, with or without the gastric band.</p>
<p>Weight loss surgery, like all surgery, does have risks and dangers attached.  It is also expensive.  If you are morbidly obese, however, you will be able to qualify for weight loss surgery through the NHS in the UK.  A lot of overweight candidates perceive this as no cost/no risk.  They turn a blind eye to the potentially unnecessary trauma to which they are subjecting their body.  No cost definitely does not mean no risk in reference to going under the knife for weight loss surgery.</p>
<p>Some people are so keen to obtain this &#8220;quick fix&#8221; for weight loss at no cost that they will even go to great lengths to put on weight and become morbidly obese, thereby qualifying for free surgery.  It is no wonder then that the figures released recently by the British Medical Journal reflect a tenfold increase in this type of weight loss surgery over the last ten years.  It is also no wonder that the NHS is struggling as it attempts to deal with the extra weight of increasingly costly surgery.</p>
<p>The more people who undergo weight loss surgery, particularly celebrities, the more &#8220;normalized&#8221; it becomes in our minds. Instead of us thinking of weight loss surgery as a last resort, it becomes a more readily considered &#8220;every day&#8221; option.  Unfortunately there are bound to be many side effects which we are as yet unaware of.  Once these are properly highlighted, I wonder whether so many people will be as willing to go under the knife.</p>
<p>When you consider that you still have to eat less and you still have to change your lifestyle, why not search for other ways in which you can increase your commitment to losing weight naturally?  Commitment or will-power really is the ingredient which is more frequently missing in the mind sets of people who want to lose weight.  How often do you hear overweight people bemoaning the fact that they haven&#8217;t got the will power to say no, or that they just cannot change their lifestyle?</p>
<p>You can say no and you can change your lifestyle and you can lose weight easily so long as you have the right mind set.  Your attitude towards weight loss will dictate the results which you experience.  If you would like to lose weight naturally and get your mind around weight loss then why not try hypnosis?</p>

Now, more than ever before, it is important to choose your foods wisely and eat and act responsibly. The last thing you’ll want to do is gain 75 pounds because you’re “eating for two” and spend the whole next year chowing down and becoming best friends with your  medical staff, rather than bonding with your baby.</p>
<p>Yes, pregnant women tend to overeat due to the misleading concept of “eating for two”. While technically you are eating for both yourself and your fetus, your growing baby does not need for you to eat more than 300 extra calories a day, which is not as much as you think it is. So instead of sitting down to two steak and potato dinners in one evening, stick with a single dinner and then a light snack of sliced apple, humus, and half of a whole wheat pita. Piling on ice cream, chips, and soda will not only make you gain too much weight during the next nine months, but will likely make you feel sick, especially knowing how common pregnancy heartburn can be.</p>
<p>Also, do you really want your baby’s first foods to be chocolate macadamia nut coconut frosted cake? You won’t exactly be sending your baby the right message about healthy living, will you?</p>
<p>Next: Drinking. According to some doctors, an occasional glass of wine in the second and third trimesters is totally fine. But anything more than that may be harmful to your baby. Look at these nine months as a time to detox from your regular drinking habits. Focus on preparing yourself for a life with baby—will you be drinking excessively once the baby is here? I hope not. Why not start cultivating good habits now.</p>
<p>Instead of alcohol, switch to drinking plain water, and lots of it. Your body needs to stay hydrated—it’s hard work growing a baby!</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve been struggling to lose weight for weeks, months, or even years, and have been unsuccessful until now, then it&#8217;s time you embraced a new approach. Turning to diet pills as a quick fix solution does not need to be the weak way out and does not need to be unhealthy. You can take diet pills in a healthy and safe manner, and become well on your way to weight loss and a life full of more energy.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s how:</p>
<p>1. First, consult with your doctor, nutritionist, or  medical consultant. These people can help you determine which pill is appropriate for you, and can help you set up a diet that is compatible with a diet pill regimen.</p>
<p>2. Don&#8217;t think long term. Diet pills are not intended for long term use. They provide a fantastic way for you to jumpstart your weight loss program by helping you achieve fast weight loss and by boosting your energy, so you receive the initial motivation you need to diet on your own, successfully, without pills.</p>
<p>3. Stick to your diet. Using diet pills does not mean that you can eat whatever you want (and however much you want) and lose weight magically because of the pills. for example, will help suppress your appetite, but if you don&#8217;t listen to those hunger signals and overeat each time, you won&#8217;t lose weight (and you&#8217;ll probably end up feeling sick).</p>
