Cycle Routes are made up of roads, tracks, paths or marked lanes designated for use by cyclists from which motorised traffic is generally excluded. The names and definitions of the various cycle route types vary from country to country.

The term usually means a recognized or defined way from one destination (the start) to another destination (the end/finish) and in some case can be the same place on a looped cycle route.

A route along a cycle trail usually means that you can cycle along a stretch of a cycle route which is dedicate for cyclist’s use and is normally ‘traffic free’ , enabling the cyclist to cycle along the route in relative safety.

The category off-road includes all of the above, bike trails, mountain-bike trails and bike paths. You can cycle on an off road path down mountain tracks, forest trails, lake side, canal tow paths. In fact the term off road cycle route usually refers cycle routes that are any where away from free flowing traffic.

In city, suburban and built up areas the term cycle routes can refer to specific parts of the roadway or pavement areas being marked out for specific use by cyclists to use to cycle freely along their route from one destination to another along designated cycle lanes on or off the roadway.

The issue of the safety of segregated cycling routes is one of controversy. Some people say segregation of cyclists is necessary to the provision of a safe cycling environment. In contrast, some research imply increases, some significant, in the rate and severity of car/bicycle collisions due to such segregation while people are using the city or suburban areas.

There are certain cities in the UK where the area has become somewhat famous for its cycling and its local cycling routes. There are the cities of Oxford and Cambridge well known for the student population using local routes to get around the local area as a cheap form of transport. You also get area such as the lake district for its beautiful landscapes and there are there are some well known cycle paths in the area as there are in many other areas throughout the UK.

There is no doubt that with the development of designated and recognized routes, cycling has under gone something of a boom in popularity in the UK. People now regularly cycle daily to commute to work. They use the cycle paths for fun family days out and they use routes to keep fit and help the environment being ‘greener’. Some people enjoy getting out in their free time and using their own private route where they enjoy a leisurely cycle ride along which they have developed and adapted for their own use over a period of time using their local knowledge. A route can be short, just a few hundred yards up to a hundred miles or more. It can be used for sport/racing, time trials or just a leisurely cycle route. You can complete your route in less than an hour or up to completing your chosen route over a period of days or weeks.

One of the most famous cycle routes in the UK is Lands End to John ‘O Groats. Many people embark on this cycle route for the purpose of raising money for charities others just cycle the route for their own individual reasons. Another Recognized route is the ‘Coast to Coast’ of which there are many in the UK. You could use the route from East to West Coast. Hull to Liverpool, Newcastle to Carlisle or may be the cycle route of North to South Devon completing a Coast to Coast route of over 100 miles along the way.

While you cycle along your cycle route you can see all sorts of things that you pass by while travelling by other methods without giving them a second thought. On you cycle route you might pass an historical monument or you may notice something in your local area which may be of interest.

Cycling along on the same routes you have used over the years the miles add up and its not long before you have cycled over a hundred miles. Just think if you use the same route for travelling to work five days a week. That’s ten journeys and if each cycle route is five miles long then over a week you will have cycled at least fifty miles. Use the same route for say, fifty weeks of the year and over the year you will have cycled two thousand five hundred miles along your cycle route. Many of us cycle that amount to work along various cycle routes and then in addition choose to use our leisure time enjoying the delights of getting out on our bikes at the week end and using various cycle routes through out the UK.

Cycling routes can be easy and they can be difficult. You can have a nice easy flat cycle route or you can choose cycle routes that have some steep hills in them. Many people choose a route with steep hills along the cycle route because they may be training for some specific event or to help them with their fitness training. Most people however will choose the easiest cycle routes available and keep to a nice flat cycle route. The other thing that may affect you on your chosen cycle routes is the UK weather. On certain routes in the UK you may find that you have a prevailing wind in one direction or another, so people tend to adapt their routes taking into account such factors.

Golf club distances are the average distances your clubs reach for each type of club you use. These distances are affected by several factors that make them different from those of other players. To know how well you are performing, you have to determine your average golf club distances and see how you can improve.

Knowing your performance in golf is important to know where you stand and where you need to improve on. Learning about golf club distances can be the first step to a better performance. Here are some helpful things you need to know about golf club distances:

Definition

Golf club distances are the average distances you reach for the different types of clubs. Knowing your club distances help you determine how you are performing in terms of your skill level, the type of club you use, and many other factors. Learning about the different golf club distances also help you find out how you do with your fellow golfers on the same level. You will be guided how far you need to work on to perform better.

Factors affecting golf club distances

Golf club distances vary for each type of player and for different reasons, making it difficult for you to compare your club distances to other players. Here are the most important factors that affect your golf club distances:

*The clubs you are using. Different club set brands may perform differently, making club distances different from one another. The types of club you use, such iron and wood, also perform differently given similar circumstances. Furthermore, you have to understand that different clubs are used for different purposes, too. For example, wood and iron clubs are used for mid-range shots, putters for short-range shots, and wedges for special situations, like in sand traps; thus, if you use any of these clubs for different purpose, you will fall out of your expected golf club distance.

*Your height. Studies show that taller women tend to swing longer distances than shorter women, given other conditions remain the same. If you are rather short, do not compare your golf club distances to taller women, but rather to those of your height level.

*Your swing speed. Even if you are shorter than the rest, your average golf club distances could possibly be higher if you have powerful swing speed. Usual swing speed ranges between 90-100 Mph.

*Your physic. Your body built also affects your club distances. Logically, the larger you are, the stronger you tend to be than skinnier ones, thus helping you reach farther club distances.

*The type of ball you are using. Golf balls are classified according to their construction, which affects the distance they go after a swing. There are two-piece golf balls, three, and four-piece golf balls. Two-piece balls are usually used as distance balls because of its large core. Three-piece or four-piece golf balls, on the other hand, are for you if you have high speed swings.

*Weather conditions. In any outdoor sport, weather conditions really affect one’s performance. The wind, for example, can be against the direction of your ball, thus shortening your club distance. Humid weather can also shorten club distances as the ball cannot travel far without air.

*Condition of the golf course. Finally, the condition of the golf course can affect your club distance. It includes the fairways, the greens, the bunkers, and even the tees. The better the condition, of course, the better your golf club distances will be.

Determining your average golf club distances

Many books and references regarding golf club distances give you distance ranges for the type of club you are using. You can use this as your basic reference to compare your current performance. Follow the following steps to help you derive your golf club distances.

*Start by going to the driving range. Drive using the most comfortable club you usually use on the fairway.

*Do around 15 shots and take note of the all the distances you make for every swing. You can ask the help of an assistant in the driving range to determine the distances or use the yardage points set on the field.

*Next, compute the average distance for all the swings you have made. To do this, add up all the distances for all your hits and divide by the number of swings you have made.

*You can do the the same steps over again for all the other clubs in your golf set to determine your personal golf club distances.

Just make sure you are in great playing condition when taking your distances. Once you have your averages, you can compare it with standard distances of your own level and conditions or simply use them as reference points to improve your performance. Do not forget to wear your your most comfortable golf attire to make your performance even better. Wear your best golf shoes, shirt, cap, and pants that will keep you comfortable during your entire game.

A popular belief about the game of golf is that it is easy. And certainly when the professionals are seen on television it does indeed appear manageable. The beginner reads the magazine ads and innocently may say: “I think I will take up golf.” A resultant trip to the gadget store: the sporting goods golf department, to buy the proper equipment, and of course clothing, gets them started. Oftentimes the buyer exits the store looking like the student in “Tin Cup.” Lots of contraptions, no clue as to what is awaiting them!

Now many golfers want to experience golf for the walking exercise, others to enjoy a day outdoors with friends, while others want to be able to play in work events. The more serious, and competitive golfer usually wants to attain more success at the game. After a time or two at the golf course the novice realizes golf is not as easy as the champions make it look on TV. Most newbies now find themselves asking “Why is this game so hard?” This is likely the time when they seek out golf instruction/schools to find the answer.

A significant reason golf is “hard” is that so many aspirants think that the elements of golfing success can be self taught from manuals or well meaning friends. Error!

A primary reason golf is hard to master is that so many of the physical techniques are counter intuitive and the student has a frustrating time adjusting to what feels natural to him/her. The complexities of the golf swing as commonly taught, sound something like this. “Swing slowly for distance” “Swing 80% of your capacity to hit it far” “For power to be effective, you need a soft grip” “Putting is an art, not a science” Now what does the golfer think of those ideas when standing on the driving range with a 200 yard distance to cover and a funny looking club in his hand? Learning these basic principles, and others like them, is absolutely necessary for any progress to take place

For a fortunate few, usually right brain types, the verbiage is less critical as they function best by “feel” One of the leading problems in golf instruction is a situation the instructor and the student are unaware how the student takes information and reacts to it. A lawyer and a musician absorb information and utilize it in different ways. What kind of learner are you?

Now golf is played on a wide area measured in hundreds of yards, and the distance to cover is intimidating all by itself to many players, especially women. Moving the golf ball 200+ yards is a matter of technique, but it is a subtle technique consisting of timing, and proper form. Even the beginner has a clubhead speed in excess of 60 mph! Of course in addition to distance you still have to find the ball, so accuracy cannot be neglected. The basic swing patterns which create distance also create accuracy.

Now once a person thinks he has some of these fundamentals in order, he is confronted with the most basic skill inherent in the golf game. That is the use of the brain to utilize the physical skills. Some of the best golfing minds have said, golf is 80-90% mental! There is something demoralizing which occurs in the silence of the preparation for the golf swing. It is quiet and private, a strange place for many individuals to be! Negative thoughts have a tendency to destroy good intentions. Most new golfers are not well taught in the mechanics of positive thoughts and emotions.

“If you don’t believe you can do it, or if you believe you can do it, in both cases you are right”! As one progresses in golf skills, the mind itself becomes the 15th club. Another way of putting it-as you live your life, so you can live your golf. Be positive!

To get the most out of ones golfing experience there is absolutely no substitution for learning the fundamentals in their simplest form. Golf is not brain surgery, but it is a highly individualistic process and rarely, except in the young, is it instinctive. One must develop technique and “feeling” related to their own body type, natural ability and coordination. The secret to solving golf’s difficulties is excellent professional golf instruction. First consult your local driving range professional for short series of lessons with other beginners in a small group. Then practice, practice, practice. When you have developed a reasonable proficiency, attendance at a 2-3 day golf school which promotes fundamentals and playing/instruction time, is a logical move.

Upon completion of these tasks, you are now ready to understand why the game is so frustrating.

The secret to making it “easy” rests entirely within you! “The fault lies within ourselves.”

When you’re working on your golf game at the driving range, start with the necessary preparations of doing your stretching exercises first. Then begin slowly with a golf club that doesn’t take much of your energy.Continue taking your time hitting golf balls, and breath in the fresh air by relaxing. You don’t have to keep pounding golf balls to the point your exhausted, and you’re hurting from swelling in your fingers, hands, legs or lower back joint muscles.

It’s good to work on your golf swing, but it doesn’t have to be a workout like you would get at the gym. If you would only take your time, you can learn a lot by just watching other golfers swinging and mishitting their golf balls all over the driving range area.

I will watch for the different methods golfers will use when they swing their golf clubs, and some of the golf swings are fairly good, but others need a whole lot of work. I usually think to myself that if only they could change the way they practiced they would become so much better golfers.

What do you need to do in order to practice the correct golf swing mechanics? If you’re going to work on your golf swing then every golf club in your bag needs to be used practicing. “That is the number one problem” I see with the vast majority of all golfers on the driving range hitting golf balls today.Their only focus is about using their drivers, and trying to hit the golf ball out of the driving range area.

They’re there to hit the snot out of the golf ball, so that they can brag how far they hit it to their golfing buddies. If this is what your doing, then I have some bad news for you. You’ll never improve your golf swing mechanics.

You won’t be able to improve unless you commit yourself to spending as much time as possible to every part of your golf game. You need to dedicate yourself to hitting one golf ball at a time, with every golf swing thought being fundamentally sound. You can’t expect to do anything in life unless your passionate about investing your time and energy into improving oneself.

What should you do? This means you need to forget about concentrating on just your driver at the driving range. A driving range should in fact be referred too as a practice range as you are there to practice on your golf swing mechanics only. You want to develop a correct golf swing that you can take it out onto the golf course without needing to give it any swing thoughts during your golf round.

If you have just been striking golf balls after balls on the driving range and your golf swing is getting worse. You need to stop whatever your doing! So how does a golfer know when his golf swing mechanics is correct or incorrect? Have you ever heard that practicing doesn’t make perfect it makes permanent. It’s True!

Do you want to lower your golf scores? Then you must invest into something worthwhile that will improve your golf swing. That would be Medicus the #1 swing trainer aid in the world. The Medicus Learning System is dedicated to assisting golfers of all ages. “Master the Basics” of golf through a consistent process of education, training and practice.

Golfers in the past had to rely on the theories and interpretations of their teaching professional, and from books and videos which gave conflicting information. All these have led to the confusion, frustration and inconsistency of the golfer.

If you truly believe that you can work out your golfing swing flaws on your own without some type of training aids, then you’re only kidding yourself. What do you expect? Just when you think you might have solved part of your golfing problems, your work in fixing the problem is done, and another problem will show its ugly head. Leading to more confusion, frustration and inconsistency.

Wouldn’t it be better to follow a step by step system that takes you through the various components of the golf swing and explains them in a way that you can better understand? That is why Medicus developed a comprehensive series of golf training aids.

I also recommend finding a good local teaching professional. It doesn’t hurt to receive lessons when you are struggling with your golf game. I especially recommend it for newbies who are interested in improving their golf swing so that they can take it out onto the golf course with them.

Get someone to teach you the fundamentals and then work hard at it. Golf is one of the hardest and most frustrating games to play. It is an individual game unlike team sports where you can rely on your teammates. When you are playing it’s based solely on your own skills and experience.

That is why over 80% of all people picking up the game will never break 100. In order to shoot lower scores the only way to accomplish this is by putting in the time for practicing and devoting oneself to patience and persistency. You’re never too old to change your attitude about your golf swing.

How good can you become? It’s based upon how much you want improvement. Many golfers including myself have worked diligently by practicing all of the time. After I got onto the golf team there was plenty of help through personal coaching and watching video tapes of myself. Still I would invest the time on the driving range 3 to 4 hours/day. Then play 18 holes at the college’s home course. Practicing with every club in my bag.

That is how I went from barely breaking 80 to shooting consistently in the mid 70′s. Then I took it up one notch further and played competitive golf in college golf tournaments. This is where you’ll learn if you have a golf swing that will hold up under pressure. By playing competitively using a handicap or playing scratch this can only improve your self-confidence overall.

Many golfers when they first begin to play golf find it a problem to get their golf swing right. The troubles they encounter is that even when it looks correct they still cannot seem to progress at the rate that they would like to. In order to improve their golf swing mechanics and lower their overall scores, they tend to believe by playing more, their golf swing will naturally improve on its own. This couldn’t be further from the truth!

Instead their golf game seems to be stuck and they have no idea on how to improve. Very often the trouble is that they have never taken the time to learn the proper way to swing a golf club. Many golfers mistakenly believe that a good looking golf swing is the key to their golfing success.

It’s not enough just to look as though you are as good as the next golfer or comparing yourself to what’s on TV. Just because your golf swing looks good doesn’t mean that you have the proper golf swing mechanics that can benefit you. This is a skill that can take a very long time to master and even then you will probably never know everything.

After you have selected an instructor and a swing technique, it is now time to practice what you have been learning. Again, it isn’t as simple as just hitting golf balls out there. You’ve been shown certain mechanics that you need to now incorporate into your golf swing. The only way to implement this is by doing lots of practice golf swings in front of a mirror or at the practice range.

By doing lots of practice swings, your muscles will memorize your new golf swing mechanics, so that you can do them consistently when you begin hitting real golf shots out on the golf course. By just hitting golf balls down at the driving range, you will keep reverting back to your old golf swing habits.

In my many years of trying to work out and perfect my own golf swing, I didn’t see it clearly until I went through this online golf program. When I accepted the simplicity of the natural golf swing that I was taught, and I related it to my own golf swing, the pieces began to fit together.

If you are planning to join the golfing world, consider these few comments. First off, Do not assume that you can be proficient in a few days or few hours.

The fundamentals of the golf game include considerably more than just striking a small white ball and climbing back into a golf cart. Probably many people view the sport in this manner. That is an error! The swing mechanics of golf are learnable by most reasonably athletic persons. However you must master certain concepts and develop confidence in the golfing fundamentals in order to improve your game on a continuing basis. An evaluation of your abilities, existing skill level and learnability are crucial to your golf enjoyment. Many characteristics of the golfing experience are not user friendly, and most golf swing principles are counter-intuitive. Only professional lessons will assure you of the knowledge needed to be successful. An instructor who promotes confidence building in you and your game is your best guide to success..

Golf is to a large degree a mental game, more so than most action sports. Be prepared to use your mental skills to a degree you haven’t dreamed of. In fact, professionals and amateurs alike have long used special non-physical techniques in most sports such as tennis, archery, skiing. When you can apply specific mental skills to your golf game you enhance your improvement immesurably.Make the mental discipline the best part of the game. The finest instructors show you how to develop these capabilities. Even novices can achieve outstanding results.

A significant and all important part of your early instruction may well be at a formal golf school.Golf schools in particular with their 2-3 day curriculum of instruction can jump start your understanding of the basics. Attending golf schools and taking professional golf lessons will enhance the process.

The physical aspects of the golf swing and the mental techniques actually must be integrated to have the best success in your learning curve. Whether you attend golf school or a driving range for your lessons look for instructors who are student-driven, not method driven or what may be called “the copycatschool” Strive to make your golf swing intuitive, non mechanical from the start and you will see better results as your swing becomes l more a part of your own personality. One golf school has a slogan-Your Golf Signature Written Boldly. That is a simple, but outstanding way to view your own experiences.

The list of the fundamentals of the golf swing need not be overly complicated. In their simplest form the GASP system is most agreed upon for the beginning basics. G is for grip A is for alignment S is for stance and P is for Posture. A correct understanding of these basics will assure you of a good foundation. The best part- you can master these principles without ever swinging a club!

A fundamental of golf not always taught, is a pre shot routine. This is a golf strategy that every player should master, yet many do not. A pre shot routine is simply the process of the action taken before swinging at the ball. Part of this routine will be the visualization mentioned above, your mental perception of where you want to ball to fly. The other part of your routine will be spent on the ASP above.

If there is a secret to early success with your golf game, it is this.

Once you have been instructed in the basic swing principles then practice these principles with no club longer than a seven iron. The golf swing with a driver, a longer and heavier club, shouldn’t be any different in its fundamentals than the swing with the shorter, easier to control clubs.

An interesting fact known to most instructors, but not most golfers, is that the player makes the same mistakes with the shorter clubs as the longer ones. Accordingly, it is easier and more practical to learn the golf swing with clubs such as the 8 or 7 iron. Practice mini-swings, 30-40 yard pitch shots for feel. Using this short swing process, you can actually visualize the clubs positions, be sensitive to your grip tension and actually can feel your body positions at various times in the swing. This sensitivity to your body motions is much more difficult to achieve with the heavier golf clubs.

Your goal in the instruction process is to integrate the physical moves with a feel for the tempo, and rhythmn required to strike the golf ball successfully. The short swing makes this process much much simpler and satisfying to golfers of all levels.

The secret: There really are only a few basics. Get professional instruction-use your brain power your “15th club”, the mental one and practice with the short irons. Success will follow.

How long does it take to recover from a marathon? How long does it take to recover from an Ironman triathlon? How much racing is bad for my body? These are all good questions posed in my office on a regular basis. The problem is that the answer is always, “It depends”. Everyone recovers at a different rate. Age, experience and current fitness level are large variables in the equation. I know a marathon runner in town who ran 100 marathons in a less than 10 years; and of course, we have all heard of Dane Rauschenberg who ran 52 marathons in one year for charity and then wrote a book about it! The flip side is that I know runners who can only do one marathon a year without getting hurt and most triathletes only train for one Ironman a year.

So what is the magic formula? How much is too much? I think the first thing to think about is what is your goal? If you are just talking about finishing the marathons and not really having a time crunch, then feel free to do up to six a year but realize that having more than two quality runs in a year is very difficult. The Ironman distance should not be attempted more than 2 or 3 times a year regardless of time goals! Now, for those of us who are addicted to the watch, “racing” a marathon is something that should not be done more than twice a year. “Racing” an Ironman triathlon should only be attempted one a year.

Why is this true? Well, simple math. It takes a minimum of 4 months to train effectively for a marathon and 6 months for an Ironman. Then you need at least one day for every mile you ran and three to five days for every hour your triathlon took. That means a month of recovery before you start to train again after a marathon and at least 6 weeks after a 12 hour Ironman. Last time I checked, there were only 12 months in a year; hence, the common recommendation of racing no more than 2 quality marathons or one quality Ironman triathlon a year.

Why do some people recover faster? Age. My feeling is that youth is wasted on the young. I remember being able to run a marathon and get up and go to work the next day. Now I have to take at least one day off and often take two! Experience does help. Your body has been there before, so it knows it will live. Veterans often have a post-race routine down that helps them recover. (Often this includes the anesthesia known as beer!) If your fitness level is high and your nutritional status is good, you will recover faster.

What can you do to hasten recovery? Walk a cool down after the race. Do not sit down immediately even though your legs are begging you to! Take a 15 to 20 minute walk and stretch gently. An ice bath is best, but very few people I know are that tough. A cool bath followed by stretching before you go to bed is helpful. A large amount of carbohydrates and water also helps. Hence the beer phenomenon! A massage a few days after the race will help you recover. More than anything, do not start training again until you are fully recovered. Many injuries occur due to too much, too soon, too fast and too fatigued syndrome!

So how much is too much? Again, the answer is always, “It depends.” Listen to your body. Really listen and stop being stubborn or stupid! If you start training and you are exhausted, you are doing too much. If you are spending too much time in my office and less on your bike, you are doing too much. The answer is really simple stupid. Listen to your body and it will tell you how much is too much.

Bottom line: Let your body fully recover from your races and quality times will be recorded. Race only one to two marathons or one Ironman triathlon a year. As for other distances, keep in mind that you need one day for every mile of a running race and at least 3 days for every hour you raced in triathlon. Anything shorter, you better take off your watch and go for the finish instead of the time and prepare yourself to spend some quality time with your local sports medicine physician!

What is the difference between a one plane or two plane golf swing? Moe Norman was one of the greatest ball strikers and teachers on the Canadian P.G.A. tour. His philosophy was to keep the golf swing as natural and simple with no overtaxing swing motion.

The one plane golf swing is a pure rotary motion, with a body release as you continue to rotate left, after impact. The one plane is viewed as being easier to understand and implement when trying to improve your golf swing mechanics. It requires less timing or tempo, and it isn’t entirely dependent upon what your lower body is doing with regards to being coordinated with the rest of your golf swing mechanics.Such as your hip, shoulder and spine rotation, and because of this it reduces the amount of stress that’s placed upon your lower back muscles and joints. Therefore for older golfers it can help to eliminate golfing injuries.

What is the proper way to swing a golf club? A golf swing is an unnatural motion that can only be perfected through practicing. The two plane swing or traditional golf swing,is a continuous flowing pendulum motion. The two plane swing is the golf swing we are all taught. When your first learning, you need to develop faster hip motion and the timing of the lower body with the rest of your golf swing mechanics. Different golf swing elements do make up a golf swing. Everything from your grip to your balance, hip and shoulder rotation, proper stance, to external factors like wind and pin placements.

It all makes up how you approach your golf swing. It is a repetitive motion that places stress on the same muscles over and over again. As a result, those joints and muscles will get tired, and can lead to different injuries. A proper way to swing a golf club can be learned and worked on individually. Unlike a baseball swing or a jump shot, hitting a golf ball is not a natural movement and you must acquire muscle memory only through practicing and training.

Building a golf swing is like that of building a house. You need to have blueprint plans on what foundation needs to be built first. Then it’s followed by the actual structures of four walls and a roof. When you look at the professional golfers you will notice that each of them have a distinct technique with their golf swing. Many of the pros have unique golf swings and each of them are able to at some point win a major event or tournament.

This means that the golf swing is not about a certain way of swinging, but more about individual techniques that best suits them. For amateurs many elements will factor into your own specific golf swing. Your height, weight, the type of golf clubs being used, and whether you are right or left handed, etc, this does come into play for every golfer.

You don’t have to copy a particular golfer, because your own style will be unique to you. The proper way to swing a golf club starts with the golfers mindset and self-confidence. The golf swing mechanics is the most important part of playing golf and it also takes a lot of effort to perfect a proper golf swing. Golf is all about getting the ball around the golf course in the minimum amount of golf strokes.

So how do you correct your golf swing speed issues and get your timing back? How do you determine if your golf swing speed is your real issue? There are times when you may have gone to the golf course and hit the golf ball beautifully, solid and straight to the right. This can be an indication that your timing was off enough to cause the golf ball to travel right of your target. This was caused because your hips were rotating out of the way to quickly and not allowing your golf club to return to square at impact. Your natural tendency is to rotate your hips during your follow through causing you to pull the ball to the left. To correct this you need to slow the turning of your hips to allow the golf club more time to return too the golf ball before clearing out completely. Also, check for proper club head alignment, ball and body positions which is critical to hitting the golf ball.Even though alignment lines are not visible and must be imagined when setting up to addressing the golf ball.

Golf Swing Speed, usually referred to as timing. This is one of the most misunderstood golf swing mechanics discussed. So let’s talk about what timing a golf swing really means. Timing a golf swing is when you swing the golf club back to the golf ball as your hips turn to clear out of the way. The reason your hips have to clear out of the way is to allow the club head to return to the golf ball squarely at impact and then follow through and wrap around you to the finish position. This is the function of timing a golf swing. Whatever golf club feels the most comfortable to you is the one you need to practice with the most. Continue working with that one golf club in order to improve your golf swing speed, and then practice with the golf club you are struggling with. However, avoid practicing with that club until you have gotten your timing back on track.

Hunting turkey with a bow is the art of harvesting a wild turkey with the skills learned and practiced in the use of archery. Bow hunting turkey takes patience, skill and unique techniques. Turkey’s are highly intelligent and are very challenging to hunt. With remarkably keen eyesight and hearing, wild turkeys are one of the most difficult upland game birds to hunt, especially with a bow.

There are special skills needed to be successful, of these the most important is stealth. The ability to be within 30 yards of a very alert, wild animal with a 270 degree, razor sharp, field of view, excellent hearing, the ability to hit ground speeds up to 20 mph and burst into flight at speeds up to 55 mph, all while trying to gain a shooting position with a clear line of sight to a target approximately the size of a silver dollar. Sound like fun? Well, it’s much more than fun. The sense of accomplishment is remarkable. To successfully hunt any animal with a bow is challenging; a wild turkey with a bow is a special accomplishment unique to itself.

The best way to start is from a ground blind. Natural cover or portable, ground blinds are a great way to get the Birdseye view. I have had turkeys literally stick their head into my blind and come with a few feet of my face, yet another one of those special moments with nature. Natural cover is good if you can pattern a “rafter” of turkeys and predict their movements. Portable blinds are useful because, you guessed it, they’re portable. They are relatively lightweight at 15 – 20lbs. and set up in seconds, portable blinds are an obvious choice if you want to stalk and set up quickly. Blinds with a Black liner are best, if you dress in Black, at least from the waist up. Once inside the blind you can take a position on one knee and virtually disappear into the background of the blind. Magnetic window flaps are essential for quick and quite shooting set-ups. Some blinds have “shoot through” window netting. Although useful for deer hunting, it is not necessary for turkey. Turkey’s do not seem bothered by the black void that appears, without the netting in place. The best chance of success will require quick, quiet set-ups and the ability to stay calm and “work” efficiently and accurately under pressure.

Using decoys are a great way to help challenge that big gobbler to cross the field. The use of a high quality “Strutting Tom” decoy can drive dominate Tom’s crazy. It is widely believed that Turkey’s can see in color, the more realistic your decoy the more attention it will attract. Using a hen decoy in the spring can attract the affections of a Tom or entice that alpha hen to stick around awhile. There are several types of decoys for different situations. The thing to keep in mind is to keep it simple, quiet and natural. The more at ease the birds feel, the better chance for a quality shot.

When the time comes for all your “hard work” and patience to payoff, don’t blow it with an errant shot. You will hear “this shot placement is the best” or “bow hunters prefer this type of shot”, at the end of the day I prefer the best, most ethical, shot the turkey presents. Practice as many different, realistic shooting scenarios as possible. If you plan to hunt from a blind, shoot from different positions within the blind. Check back clearance to account for your draw length. Turkey’s can quickly come from any direction, you need to be able to maneuver inside the blind. Likewise, if hunting from a tree stand, practice from an elevated position. Take note of the angle of entry, arrow placement will need to be adjusted accordingly. Bow hunting turkey is a very challenging and equally rewarding adventure. Frustrating at times, sometimes mundane and occasionally exhilarating. Watching a springtime Tom strut for you in front of your well place decoy, presenting you a great shooting opportunity, is something every bow hunter deserves to witness.
The post-run ice bath may help you to decrease muscle soreness, train harder and stay injury-free.

When you train, the goal is to get sore, but not broken. Most marathon runners and triathletes have either suffered an overuse injury or know someone who has. An overuse injury may be the best way to derail your fitness and destroy your chances of success in your goal race.

Many novice runners think that when they run, their muscles get stronger. However, experienced athletes know that the muscles actually get stronger when you recover after a run.

When you run hard enough get improve your muscular fitness, you actually create tiny little tears to the muscle fibers in your legs. In the 12-48 hours after this injury, your body responds by repairing the damage and strengthening the muscle tissue. It is this recovery from the soft tissue injury that makes you stronger.

The key to getting as strong and fast as possible is to train right at your body
